What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment.
Brady has been involved in several key pedal companies so he really knows pedals. The culmination of all of his experience and exploration of sound is readily evident in his own pedal brand. If you are not familiar with Old Blood Noise Endeavors do yourself a favor and check it out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out Brady’s choices for his Four On The Floor.
1. Boss – RV-5 Digital Reverb
“The RV3 was the first reverb pedal I bought. Along the way I upgraded to the RV-5. This is standard for me. I’ve had it for about seven years. I turn it on, and I don’t really have to worry about it. It’s gonna do what I want it to do. I use it about 50% for more of an always-on type of thing. Not really for effect. My signal chain would be Guitar>RV5>Drive>2nd reverb. This means my drive is picking up the RV5 reverb signal and driving it as well. It makes the sound feel bigger, roomier to me. The second reverb is for actual effects.”

2. Ibanez – SC10 Super Stereo Chorus
“There is no better chorus in my opinion. This was part of the 10 series done in the 1980’s. These pedals have a unique look but I love it. It sounds amazing. I use chorus often for warbly single note leads and I get kind of a melody out of it. It colors the sound really well.”

3. Electro-Harmonix – Bass Micro Synth
“I got this in a trade somewhere along the line. If I’m looking for new ideas or recording or messing around, I will put it int eh mix because it gives a really great gated, gainy synth sound. You can really mess with the frequencies. You can do a lot with this pedal that is not explored very much. It sounds like a little keyboard.”

4.Strymon –
blueSky Reverberator
“It’s a different flavor of reverb. All the sounds are beautiful and tamable. I use it mainly for pronounced reverb effects. With this pedal, I will use their presets as a starting point but then tweak them. I won’t really construct my own. That rabbit hole is stressful for me.”
