FOUR ON THE FLOOR – MYTHOS PEDALS

The Guitar Knobsblog

Four On The Floor is our new podcast segment in which we ask our guests to name their four must have pedals excluding tuners. Pretty fun right! If they are a pedal builder they cannot name their own pedals of course (sorry!). Check out all the rest of the Four on the Floor blogs

Zach Broyles, The founder of Mythos Pedals has a decidedly uncomplicated approach to the pedals he creates. If you are not familiar with Mythos Pedals, do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic inervivew too! Funny and crazy knowledgeable about guitars. You can hear our new interview with him for yourself right here listen to with your own ears right here. Check out Zach’s choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Maxon AD-999 Delay

“I’ve played so many great delay pedals, I have access to them at work, I bring them home from work and borrow from friends. I’m a very simple guitar player, I use delay underneath my playing and it’s not ever in the forefront so I don’t use tap or fancy stuff. It has 900 milliseconds of delay so there a lot of time, but no modulation. It wants to go into self-oscillation really early but you can tame it with the repeat knob. The repeat time, I don’t know, it is different than others, but there is something about the quality of this delay, how it reacts to your playing. It is so musical and fun and just kind of fills up space. I’ve had it for years and everything I’ve tried to replace it with failed by comparison. It’s one of my favorite pedals of all time. ” Check out the Maxon AD-999 Delay

2. Fulltone Deja-Vibe

“This is the old one with the filament lamp, not the LED. Most people use the univibe sound as the Hendrix chorus thing, but when i use it I crank the volume, I put the depth just when you can start to feel it, and I put it in vibrato mode and I have the speed really low and use it as a boost that has a “wummm-wummm” pulse to it. You can feel it and notice it but it is not in the forefront. I’ll never sell it!” Check out the Fulltone Deja-Vibe

3. T Jauernjig – Gristle King V1 Overdrive/Boost

“This is essentially a tube screamer with some switches and a clean boost that you can put pre and post. Mine is an old one and it is in this gigantic orange box. It’s just great. I’ve owned quite a few of them. This one has a dual sided PCB that Tim etches himself, It’s crazy!” Check out the T Jauernjig – Gristle King V1 Overdrive/Boost

4. Paul Cochrane – Tim Overdrive

“I have an old one from the first era, just a really great “transparent drive” with a boost. It has an effects loop for the boost so if you want a reverb, or delay when you kick the boost on for a solo, you can have it so it only engages when the boost is on which is a super neat idea. I love the Tim” Check out the Paul Cochrane – Tim Overdrive
