What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment.
Filipe and his crew make some of the most recognizable pedals out there. I lifetime in the music industry and a desire to create helps his orginal designs to become highly sought after pedals. If you are not familiar with Beetronics FX do yourself a favor and check him out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out Filipe’s choices for his Four On The Floor.
1. T-REX – Replicator Tape Delay
“I’m crazy about tape delays. the replicator gives me the taste of some really high-end delays that I use at NRG studios all the time, but in a pedal board size box. This has actual tape in the pedal so it’s not tiny. I would like to try out the new Jr. one because it is smaller. But I love my full size one. I use it to run other instruments through it as well. Everywhere I go this pedal goes with me. It is excellent.”

2. Electro-Harmonix – Pitchfork Polyphonic Pitch Shifter
“A producer friend of mine gave me this pedal in return for some pedal work I did for him. He thought I would like it and he was right. It has not left my pedal board since I got it. It is great to create new, different riffs, especially for the newer styles of R&B/psych funk. You set the 3rd, or the minor 3rd, or the major 3rd, then you start playing around with that you can find weird crazy stuff that will go very well with that kind of music genre.”

3. Prescription Electronics – Vibe Unit
“This is a super deep sounding pedal. This is the deepest vibe pedal. The sounds really speak to me. I’ve used this extensively in recording and I just love the way it sounds. It is a big pedal too, which I like.”

4. Maestro – FZ-1 Fuzz Tone
“I’ve loved this since way back in the day. It is a great fuzz. Very nasty. I recently got one on a trade from the guy that was the first to buy one of my pedals before Electronics even existed. This pedal is just amazing to me still. It is the first fuzz pedal ever made from 1962.”
