FOUR ON THE FLOOR-ARIEL SCHERBACOVSKY OF RED NOISE PEDALS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Ariel is a colorful dude and appreciates the joy and exploration of music, which he echos in his pedals. If you are not familiar with Red Noise Pedals do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Sola Sound – Tone Bender Fuzz

“In my opinion, this is the absolute best fuzz ever. I don’t know if it’s this specific one I’ve got or if it’s something about my bass—I dunno, something about what happens there hits me very, very well. I guess it depends on a lot of things when it comes to fuzz like you change the guitar, you change an amp or you play in a certain way and it’s a different pedal. But this one is somehow part of me, I guess it’s a personal thing. I got it in Israel maybe twenty years ago. At the time I didn’t even know how good it was. It just pretty much laid around for 10 years without me even touching it. And then at some point, I suddenly realized that this thing is just the Rolls Royce.

2. Electro-Harmonix – Bass Synthesizer

“I play bass so this pedal is so useful for me. This pedal splits the octave into three—sub-octave, then just you’re clean guitar, then an octave above, and then a distortion on top of that. It has two knobs called start frequency and stop frequency which is pretty amazing. And there’s an attack delay option too. I dunno, it’s just an overall really amazing and interesting pedal which I use a lot. I really love it.”

3. DOD – FX25B Envelope Filter

“Again, great for my bass playing and this one is actually really phenomenal. I think not only because of the awesome filter it has but also because when you set the sensitivity precisely, you can almost use it as a low pass filter, which is sensitive to touch. I just used it like a very interesting and dynamic low end in a certain type of playing that I remember that was a lot of fun for me.”

4. Eventide – Pitchfactor Harmonizer

This one is a whole universe. I mean it’s just crazy. It’s hard to even call it a pedal. It’s a harmonizer essentially and then offers a bunch of really interesting and intricate ways to add notes below and up and any interval I think two octaves above and in some sounds even three maybe, I’m not sure. And they have a bunch of detune effects and chorus and a stereo split with different tuning on each side to create a sort of a stereo image. I mean it’s so much fun to play with a lot of very interesting and mind-blowing possibilities. You can really create very elaborate sounds and the textures that I don’t think any other panel really does.
