FOUR ON THE FLOOR-DAN ADAMSON OF BLAMMO ELECTRONICS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Dan Adamson likes a bit of fun in his music, which is evident in the pedals he makes as well as his choices below. If you are not familiar with Blammo Electronics do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Vox – Tone Bender Fuzz

“It’d be the old vintage style one, uh, two transistors kind of like a fuzz face cleans up well when you roll back the volume on your guitar, so it’s kinda nice for the rhythm guitar parts that are a little cleaner and you just roll it on up for your lead parts and the volume comes up with it too. So that’s kinda nice. It sounds kind of rude and it also cleans up really well. I’ve played a lot of pedals, but that one sounds so cool. I guess it’s just the one that kinda makes my ear perk up the most that I’ve played so far.

2. Catalinbread – Belle Epoch Deluxe Delay

“I really like this one. It’s got the oscillation footswitch on the left there. That it’s a whole lot of fun. You hit it and just goes wild. But plus when you’re twisting the knobs with that one, for lack of a better terms, it just sounds warmer than a lot of the other analog delays or tape-style delays when you’re getting the swishy sounds. So it just sounds really, really dang good.”

3. Korg – Miku Stomp Vocaloid Effect

“It’s probably of the best guitar pedals ever made. A lot of people are going to hate it. You know, it makes your guitar sound like a Japanese girl. It’s definitely a love or hate pedal—mostly hate. But some people love it because it’s just so gonzo. It makes you have fun, and, uh, and also you shouldn’t really be playing the blues all the time. You know, you gotta have some fun with it. I just love the thing. I pretty much do a lot of looping. So the idea is to kind of have some kind of little song background and then loop over the top of it with the MICU, just cause I don’t want to sound like anybody else, you know, and it sounds ridiculous then again, it’s probably only fun for about 20 minutes or so. I would always try to get the MICU to sound like a monster, you know, that’s what a lot of you would think you hear it and you go, well, I wonder how it responds to an octave down and it gets kind of glitchy most of the time. It is the weirdest pedal I can think of and the cheesiest—that’s why I like it.”

4. TC Electronic – Ditto Looper

Super easy, nice, simple one knob looper. Just tap it twice or you tap and hold. There’s just a couple of things you can do with it so with a little practice, you can manipulate the hell out of that thing really easily.
