What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Doug is not a pedal fiend but he picked some mighty solid ones for his four must-have pedals. If you are not familiar with Kauer Guitars do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.
1. Greer Amps – Ghetto Stomp Overdrive
“It is my all-time favorite pedal. I’ve just never had a pedal that could replace that one. It’s perfect cause it’s, it’s an overdrive, but it’s not the best way to describe it. It’s fizzy without being a lot of boost. So like when you want that kind of little bit more drive out on the amp, but you don’t have like the volume left to go up a little higher or without, you know, being murdered by everybody else in the band, it’s perfect for that. It just has this right, fizzy, mild overdrive thing that I love and it seems to work with everything. Generally I find if you can leave all the knobs kinda in the middle and the pedal sounds good, it’s usually off to a good start. Like it just sounds great all the time.“

2. Strymon – Flint Reverb/Tremolo
“I really can’t live without it. I just love that peddle. Mason stoops introduced me to that one at my shop years ago. It floored me then and it’s been with me ever since. I love the reverb, but mostly I love the harmonic tremolo on that thing. I use that a lot. I have no talent so the more I can hide bad pitch by using the tremolo to be warbly, it’s better for everyone. “

3. Electro-Harmonix – B9 Organ Machine
“For maximum annoyance the Electro-Harmonix B9 wins, I just love it. I secretly really want to be an organ player anyway and I really love to pretend to be an organ player with this pedal. It definitely annoys half the people I played music with which makes me very happy haha.”

4. Dunlop – Cry Baby Mini Wah
“I’ve got the Cry Baby Mini Wah because I tried to pair my board down to just the tiniest little board. The mini pedals are a little tough to use I think. Not that I play Metallica at all, but Kirk Hammett and I do share one common love in life, and that’s that just mid-wah position sound, which is pretty much what I’m using most of the time anyway so I just leave it in that cocked position.“
