FOUR ON THE FLOOR-EMMANUEL VOURAKIS OF JAM PEDALS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Emmanuel loves vintage gear and he picked a couple of great vintage oddities for his Four On The Floor. If you are not familiar with Jam Pedals do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Fulltone – 69 fuzz (prototype)

“Mike Fuller made this fuzz face style prototype early in his career. I have one of those babies that I sincerely love and I am a big, fuzz pedal guy. You know, a fuzz pedal is so personal to everybody. Your favorite fuzz pedal is your favorite fuzz pedal because it works just right the way you want it to. I think it’s a combination of how the pedal cleans up and how it’s actually a four knob pedal, not the later three knob version. It’s got a volume and fuzz knob, just like everything else, and it’s got a bias controlling the contour. This pedal just feels and sounds exactly like I want it to.

2. Colorsound – Wah Wah (vintage)

“I fell this is the “cleanest” and most “even” WAH pedal that I have ever tried. I like wide travel pedals better usually, but the Colorsound has a short travel. But that said, it just sounds right.

3. A/DA – Flanger

You got to have some modulation in there somewhere, right? The A/DA Flanger is just amazing. I am old school and I like vintage stuff, uh, along with all the problems they bring when they break down and when they all of a sudden sound weird and not right and whatever. But I just love that man. And sometimes their issues sound so good. Often because the original components were not as consistent you would get that one pedal that would sound magically in your ear, then you couldn’t replace it with anything.

4. Maxon – AD-900 Analog Delay

It’s a great analog delay pedal with a minimum amount of controls. What I sincerely love about that pedal is the buffer in it. I just find the buffer of this pedal to be, if not the most, definitely one of the most guitar-friendly and musical sounding buffers out there and it sounds great.
