1. Dunlop – JH1 Jimi Hendrix Wah
“This is the very first pedal I ever got when I was like 14. I don’t use it in the traditional sense, like Voodoo child or something. I discovered that I prefer it more as a filter and I would basically play it either all the way up where it’s really like that bright, almost ice-pick sound, or three fourths of the way down where

2. DOD – American Metal Distortion
“I got it from my uncle who bought it brand new in the eighties and by the time I got it, I mean it, it’s old, but now it sounds more like a fuzz. It has three controls: level, presence, and distortion. Growing up, I didn’t understand what I was really looking for and I played a lot of White Stripes and I always wanted that big muff sound without knowing that’s what I wanted. That was my go-to. They’re really affordable nowadays and it’s kind of a fun one if you find one.“

3. Lollygagger FX – CherryBox Fuzz
“Sean Wright is an awesome dude. He lets me harass him with questions about electronics. I love that Cherry Box. One of the key things about it is the oscillation. It can make it sound like a vintage Nintendo video game, like the eight bit sound and then you add the fuzz to that and it’s just so cool sounding. The enclosures are really amazing because they are hand made wood boxes that are stained and he comes up with his own circuits and everything.”

4. Pelican Noiseworks – Pelitaur Fuzz
“Leon Wright did a brilliant job with this pedal. I’m making the pedal. It’s basically two fuzzes in one. You have like the traditional gain, treble and output knobs. But what he did with the gain is that you get to blend between the two fuzzes and then depending on which side you are on if you add more treble to one of the fuzzes it adds more bass to the other one. I just thought that was really interesting. That’s rare. That’s a such a simple and cool idea. I just like, I love the sound of it. You can get that really classical like big muff sound or even kind of all the alternatives to sound uniquely yourself.“
