What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Joie Calio has spent a lot of time on the stage so he knows what is going to do the trick, as is evident in his pedal choices. If you are not familiar with Joie Calio do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.
1. Klon – Centaur Professional Overdrive (Gold Horsie Open Tail)
“I have pedals that are for the studio and then pedals that are for live shows. For live shows, I find it works best to have a couple that I can stack. And then maybe one that has a certain flavor that you just shoot out to blow everybody’s mind. So the first pedal is the clean boost in this case the Klon. I play a lot of slide on a Gretsch and I need that clean boost out of the gate to get going. I would love to look down at my feet and to see a gold Klon Centaur staring back at me. I would just love that.“

2. Shin’s Music – Dumbloid Boost Special
“They’re a Japanese company and their stuff is incredible. First off it looks cool as hell and very hard to get. So again, it’s looking back at me and I’m looking down at that next to the Klon Centaur thinking how could this be? How could my life be so prosperous and fantastic! I need the Dumbloid pedal to be able to get me all the way, you know, face-melting if I need to.”

3. Strymon – El Capistan Tape Echo
“‘Nuff said.”

4. Eventide – H9 Max Harmonizer
“If you’re only going to have four you gotta have one pedal that can do a bunch of different stuff. So I’d go for that to get some wobble and some reverb and a bunch of other fantastic combinations. This thing is incredible.“
