What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment.
Stephen is an extremely talented luthier and knows a thing or two about pedals. Hey picked some great ones to share. If you are not familiar with Honeytea Guitars do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.
1. Electro-Harmonix Cock Fight Talking Wah/Fuzz
“I’m a big Electro-Harmonix guy, I think they’re really well made, they sound great, and they’ve got a lot of variation in what they build. One of my favorites is the Cock Fight. I really dig the fuzz and the gain you can get out of this pedal. It’s a cool wah pedal but its also a cool overdrive/distortion pedal too. The scope of tone you can get out of this pedal is awesome. I’ve never been a really big wah person because they’ve always sounded thin, but the cool thing with the Cock Fight is that it has bottom end so it sounds full. It has a beautiful clean setting, as well. Its a bunch of pedals in one.”

2. Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork Polyphonic Pitch-Shifter / Harmony Pedal/x_custom_headline]
“I’ve had several octave pedals but they really didn’t cut the mustard. but the Pitchfork just settled everything for me. There are so many settings to use on this pedal. I actually have two of them. For a while I was running two, splitting them out to different amps, with one setting on one octave and a different one to a different amp. It drops down three octaves as well so if your amp can handle it you will break some windows!”

3. JHS – Pollinator V2 Germanium Fuzz/x_custom_headline]
“I’ve had some great fuzz pedals but the pollinator seems to take it to 11 like they put some steroids into it and beats you over the head with it. you can tone it down too of course. This has crazy feedback which I love too.”

4. Flux – Liquid Ambience Polyphonic Reverb
“I saw a video for this online and absolutely had to have it. It’s from New Zealand and it is one of the nicest, purest, most spacial pedals I’ve ever heard. And its simple too. Just incredible. They are pretty expensive though. But one of the things that makes this pedal so special is that it works in 5ths and octaves as well. You can have your reverb isolated in a 5th or an octave, you can have your reverb in a low or high octave. It really is amazing.”
